So my day started out like a typical Monday...
I woke up at the butt crack of dawn. Headed to the gym. Did my thing. Got ready for work. Made the long, boring drive to work. Made it to work. Started the coffee pot. Started up my computer, sat down, prepared to tackle the day I had ahead of me and waited for the coffee to brew. And it all went down hill from there...
First it started with a headache. No big deal. I get headaches all the time. Nothing I couldn't handle. So, I got my cup o' joe and got to work.
Then I started feeling queasy. Ugh - seriously? Maybe I'm just hungry. I ran a strong 2 miles (at least for me) this morning. So maybe I just need to eat something...
I made half of my breakfast which was a deli flat with pb & j. I was saving the other half for later that morning. Okay - onward and upward.
Then the dizziness and arm tingling started. I'd go from waves of nausea to feeling like I was going to pass out. WTF? I even went into the bathroom a few times to call my nausea's bluff - if you know what I mean. Yeah, that got zero results and made my mascera run. Awesome.
By this time, along with the nausea, dizziness and tingly arms/hands, my head was throbbing and I could hardly keep my eyes open. All I wanted to do was lie down and sleep. I got a decent amount of sleep last night, so I shouldn't be THAT tired. What gives?
So two hours after I got there, I headed home - all I could think about was my bed at home. At least they knew I wasn't making it up. The receptionist said I was white as a sheet. I was just hoping I would make it through the 30 minute drive home without ruining the upholstery in my car or blacking out.
Well, obviously I made it. When I got home, I headed straight for bed - after letting the poochy out to relieve himself, of course. Ozzy and I snoozed until 2:00!! And the only reason I woke up was because of a stupid telemarketer. Bloody hell! Nonetheless, I decided I probably should get up and eat something. I've been craving pb and banana oatmeal and figured that was bland enough that my stomach could handle it.
I'm feeling better although I still have a slight headache and am a little groggy. Glad that's all over with. Oy!
I'll post my workout from today and tomorrow's run sometime tomorrow. My notecard with my weight/time from todays workout is still out in the car and I don't feel like going out there just yet.
Well, I'm going to get get our turkey breast marinating for dinner tonight. I seems like its going to be a yummy recipe so I hope I can stomach it.
Random thought and quite contradicting to my previous statement - I'm thinking about going vegan?? Any thoughts? More than anything I'm interested in getting away from all the processed crap that so many of us have become accustomed to eating and focusing on using natural, organic and wholesome products. I don't think I'll totally shun all meats, at least not at first. So, I've got some research to do, though. Looking forward to my trip to the library this friday to see what I can find. I'm finding (from what little I've read) that if you make the transition slowly its not as much of a culture shock. We'll see - y'all know how I am with my hairbrained ideas...
Until next time...

I became a vegetarian (I eat eggs and dairy still) about 3 years ago and it's been fantastic. Though, there are plenty of processed foods for vegetarians and vegans too (though there's less vegan processed stuff than just vegetarian). If you want a few interesting reads check out Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman or The China Study by Campbell. If you want tasty veggie and vegan recipes I recommend any of the books in the Moosewood collection or Veganomicon is great. If you Google Vegan Lunch Box you'll get a good veggie blog. PITA has a decent "Going veg" packet, but it still contains a lot of processed stuff - mostly meat and cheese replacements instead of actual recipes avoiding all that stuff.
My advice is start small and slow - replace a few meals a week with vegetarian/vegan meals and figure out what you like.
Thanks for the advice!! I think that's exactely how I'm going to approach it.
I'm excited!!
