Bittersweet

I made it to the gym today! Not quite as early as I had hoped but still I made it!

Plus, I had another Green Ogre this morning! I used the vanilla protein power in it that I bummed off my brother. I couldn't even taste it.

My workout this morning kicked my butt and I'm totally ready for a nap. Here's how I did:

CARDIO (I did this first)

4 mile run - 46:45

STRENGTH
Abs

30 Back Extensions
30 Incline Bench Sit-ups
30 Side Extensions (each side)
30 Captain's Chair Knee Crunches
Rest 1 minute

20 Back Extensions
20 Incline Bench Sit-ups
20 Side Extensions (each side)
20 Captain's Chair Knee Crunches
Rest 45 seconds

10 Back Extensions
10 Regular Sit-ups (the incline ones were hurting my back)
10 Side Extensions (each side)
10 Captain's Chair Knee Crunches

And that's it! The run went okay. It's the first time I've run more than 2 miles since Halloween. I've got some work to do. I'm going to use the next couple of Saturdays as my "long run" days to work myself up to my half training. Next Saturday I'll do 4 miles again and the following two Saturdays I'll do 5. My first "long run" for training is 6 miles.

So my eating for today has been decent. I had a Mocha Chip Muffin for breakfast (I know, not so good) and my ogre. Tomorrow I'm going to try it sans peanut butter and add strawberries that I have left over from the salads I made for Jason and myself for lunch. I'm also going to throw in a couple scoops of the protein powder as well. I'm going for a strawberry/banana/vanilla flavor. I'll let you know how it goes.

For lunch I tried a new salad recipe. It was pretty good and looked like this:

Sorry its kinda blurry. I took the pic with my phone. The recipe called for:

Spinach
chopped walnuts
strawberries
red onion
raspberry vinegarette
grilled chicken

I used a rasp/walnut vinag that I had in the fridge. I also sauteed the onions with the chicken because I can't do raw onions. It was super duper good!

So last night we got a not-so-good phone call. Jason's dad called to tell us that his grandfather had suffered a heart attack and that they had taken him to the hospital. We later got a call from Jason's uncle to inform us that they had transferred him to another hospital and had done surgery to put in two stints in his heart. One had been blocked 100% and the other 60%. Jason's dad called off work today and to go up to be with Jason's grandpa. He called us early this afternoon to tell us about the stints and let us know that he was doing much better. Phew. That was good news.

How crazy is it that I made the "resolution" to make sure to visit our relatives more this year and something like this happens? It definitely reinforced that goal!!

We may try to go up and see his grandpa next weekend, once he's home from the hospital. Its about a 2 hour drive to get up there. We actually have plans to go snow tubing Saturday evening sort of near where his grandparents live so we may go up in the morning to visit his grandpa and then just meet my family at the snow tubing place in the evening. Dunno. We'll see.

Well, that's about all I have to say for today. We're going to see our goddaughters tonight so that should be fun. I hope its not too late of a night, but we'll see.

Until next time...

Lacey
