We got a handful of snow yesterday that I thought was going to keep me from going but even that didn't stop me. (Despite the fact that on my way home from running errands and getting groceries there was a Trailblazer nose-down in the ditch) Lucky for me we've got a 4WD big-ass truck but since I drove 20mph all the way in town I don't think it would have mattered what I was driving because I wasn't going fast enough to run off the road. haha
I even doped myself up on extra strength tylenol to zap my persistant headache that was working in cahoots with the couch to get me to lie down - it would have been all over from there.
But in all seriousness, I ended up going because I didn't want to explain in my blog why I didn't go. Amazing how that works, huh?
So here's how I did:
STRENGTH
Push
2 sets of 12 reps
65% 1RM
45 seconds of rest
1. Superset
A. Barbell Bench Press #20/#20
B. Medicine ball Push-ups 12reps/10reps
2. Superset
A. Barbell Shoulder Press #12/#12
B. Handstand Push-up variation 8reps/7reps
3. Exercise ball Push-ups Failure - in fact, I mashed my nose into the exercise ball... ouch.
Well, to start off, I did the modified push-ups on my knees for the pushups in sets 1&2. And as you can see, not only did my number of reps decrease but my arms were jello by the time I got to the set 3. I think I started a little too heavy with my bench presses although they weren't as rough as my shoulder presses.
There was a bonus lift to find your 1RM Sumo Deadlift but I didn't even attempt it. Deadlifts are out of the question for me. I'd rather not have to get back surgery.
CARDIO
Bike
30 seconds @ 100%, 90 seconds @ 65%
6 rounds
I did this with the level set at "10". This one kicked my butt but it was fun. My legs were on fire!
So today's H.I.I.T workout is this:
Wall Balls x 50 sec
Rest x 20 secJump rope (if you don't have a jump rope, pretend or do jumping jacks) x 50 sec
Rest x 20 sec
Burpees x 50 sec
Rest x 20 sec
x 4 rounds
I'm thinking I might stay home today and do my own thing... I'm going to do an ab workout and run. I didn't get to do this core workout yet so I think what I'll do is:
21 Bicycle crunches
21 Back extensions
30 second plank
45 second rest
15 Bicycle Crunches
15 Back Extensions
20 Second Plank
30 second rest
9 Bicycle Crunches
9 Back Extensions
15 Second Plank
After that I'm going to run 5K (3.1 miles) and see if I can get sub 30.
A.D.D. Moment: If you haven't seen either or both of the Transformers movies, you're totally missing out. They are AWESOME! We watched the first one a couple of weekends ago and the second one Saturday night. I thought they would be totally lame-o but they were great! Check it out!
Last thing: About the stove. Yesterday I explained how I'm finally getting a new stove but that I was using some money from our Emergency Fund to help pay for it. In true Dave Ramsey spirit, Kelsalynn (thanks love!) brought to my attention that I shouldn't be spending Emergency Fund money on something that isn't an emergency. While it may sound like I'm about to make excuses, I'm not.
We had a warranty deductible and medical bill come up that were unexpected in the past month. Rather than use our emergency fund, which is in place to pay for those such things that you couldn't have prepared for, I took money from our "Stove Fund" rather than taking away from our Emergency Fund. Had I not done that, we would have had the money in our stove fund to pay for the stove without tapping into the EF. I wasn't expecting the large chunk of change that came our way for Christmas that, had I not spent our stove money on other things, gave us the amount we needed to buy the stove I was saving for.
Plus, our stove is at least 30 years old; none of the burners operate any lower than super, duper high (simmer is not an option); we found out that we had mice living in it; the mice have been chewing the wires for the burners which explains the temperature problem with the burners; my oven temperature setting is off by about 100 degrees; the oven door hinges are rusting off (I'm waiting for it to fall off completely); and the "seal" thing that runs around the oven door is dried and smokes/burns every time I use the oven. So, I think its time to get a new oven.
I also did some calculating and its going to take longer than a few weeks (read: a couple of months) to replenish the EF and everybody (esp Jason) is sick of hearing me yell explicitives while I'm cooking. It's time.
So, with all of that said, I'm going to change into some workout clothes and go downstairs and workout. Oh, and if you noticed, I didn't go do my "work" stuff today - I'm going tomorrow. "Stupid snow". I really don't want to go, did you notice? I'm planning on working out first thing tomorrow morning and then heading up there (its an hour away) like I would if I were working. I'm also using it as an excuse to stop at my favorite coffee shop and get a coffee. Yay!
Until next time,
I'm out.

Okay- isn't it THE BEST feeling ever when you have ZERO desire to go to the gym yet you get yourself there anyway? Man, I love when I do that!
Nice job on the workout! I thought it was tough too (see blog). The push-ups KILL me! I hate how bad I am at push-ups!
As for the stove thing, I promise you that when I posed that question, it was more rhetorical than expecting an answer. To me, finances are very personal and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to decision making at all. If you feel good about your decision, THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS! I just want you to know that I was by no means judging you, rather making sure when decisions are made, you're thinking about things, and it sounds like you are.
Okay, wow, this is a long comment! I'm taking after you! :)
