Yay Friday!

Well thank goodness its finally Friday!

It seems like this week took forever! Oy!

So I went to my spinning class this morning. They rotate the instructors so it wasn't the same guy as last week. Today's guy was a real bore. People just kinda did their own thing during the class because at the beginning of each song he'd say "Okay, we're going to stand for this one" or "This song, we're doing jumps on the 4-count". If we were lucky he'd have us switch to 2-count jumps but that was about the extent of it. Total bummer. It seemed like all we did was stand and pedal. Yuck. Nevertheless, I'm going back next Friday. The spinning group is a lot of fun and they're super nice people so I'm not too worried about it.

After the class I went home, browned some pork chops for the crock pot and made some cocoa wheats for myself for breakfast. Yum-o! Cocoa wheats are my fav!!! Unfortunatly Jason doesn't like them ( I know, right?!) so I only get them when he's not around.

I'm trying one of the experiments from this dieting book I'm reading (see list of books below, its the "Beck" one) where you eat a good, hearty breakfast and then don't eat until dinner. The whole experiment is to get you to realize that you don't have to be afraid to be hungry - you'll survive. All the other diets out there tell you to eat all the time so that you're never hungry therefore making you scared to death of hunger pains. After she explains the experiment in the book (at which point I'm panicking - how am I going to go ALL DAY without eating?! I religiously eat every 3-4 hours!) she says that "If you're panicking just thinking about doing this exercise then you're afraid to be hungry. You need to learn that hunger is not something to be afraid of and that you'll survive". I sorta paraphrased there, as I don't have the book in front of me to quote directely, but you get the point.

So, I don't have any food with me at the office this morning (and I'm going to aviod our "Christmas Goodies Counter" that gets piled up with so much crap during the holidays from our clients) and I'm going to go home be productive all afternoon (another technique she says to implement - distract yourself until its time to eat. The hunger will come in waves and subside within 10-15 min).

I know I'm not quite explaining this experiment sufficiently to do it justice, but the things she talks about really makes sense. She really makes you address the mental aspect that so many people struggle with who inherantly have problems with their weight. So many of the commercialized diets out there only focus on the food and claim that with their program you"ll "never go hungry". Well, that's just a pile of dog doo-doo.

Anywho, I wasn't in a real hurry to get to work this morning. I strolled in around 8:45. But no worries, we only work 4 hours on Fridays so I only have to stay until 12:45 which won't be difficult to do. I've got a fun-packed weekend ahead so if you don't hear from me, I'll check in either Sunday night or Monday morning.

Oh, I almost forgot! I went on runnersworld.com and figured out my training schedule for the Half-Marathon. They finally posted info on it. It's April 18th @ 1:00pm. I'm sending my money in right after the first of the year to get the discounted rate and also so that I can't talk myself out of it. Yay! (I think...)

I wanted to put a count down to my Half-marathon on my blog but I can't get it to work... Can anybody help me with this??

Hope everybody has a great weekend!

Ciao,

Lacey

Are you trying to put the countdown in the sidebar or at the top of the main section?

If it's the sidebar, it may be too big for it.

What kind of error is it giving you?

It's difficult to explain how to fix it if I don't know the problem. Give me more info and I can help you.

I'm excited for you to train for a half marathon- and yes, registering early is a great motivator! Go for it!

That "test" sounds crazy! good luck!

I was trying to put it in the sidebar but, like you said, it was too big. I didn't know if there was a way to adjust it. Also, even though I would set the date, when I saved it and uploaded it, it would be back to zero.

I tried to do the same thing with the progress bar like you have and it was too big, also... :(

I'm alive! I swear!

Yes, I'm here! I swear I'm here! I've had about a kazillion things going on and haven't had the time to blog. I've k...
