Workaholic

Howdy. Well, I've offically done a horrible job in the blogging department, haven't I?

Well, mostly its because I haven't had time. All I've been doing lately is working and sleeping and, if I'm lucky, I get to stop to eat every once in a while.

I'm at least a little less stressed out now that I've decided not to tackle the half-marathon this year. Not to mention my face has cleared up as well. I was obviously WAY more stressed than I thought because my face was breaking out like crazy! Worse than I think its ever been, and I don't usually have "face issues" much...

Anyhow, TMI, I know, sorry. I think there's a half marathon in our area this fall so depending on how my summer goes, I may try to do that one. I would really really like to at least get a 10K under my belt this year as well as run a sub 30 5K. I think that those will be my two goals to replace the half-marathon goal - although the sub 30 one was already a goal, if I remember correctly.

I also went on Friday and saw my doctor about my knee problem...

Change of Heart

If it were easy, everyone would do it.

Ain't that the truth.

Training for half-marathon is tough enough when you've got the time, energy and desire to push through all those greuling, 5:00 am "tempo/speed" runs and two hour long "long runs" on the weekend.

Add in just a pinch of the basic factor of "life" and it gets even tougher yet.

Throw in a dash of my-knees-are-the-size-of-grapefruits-and-feel-like-they're-going-to-explode and my-nerve-is-pinched-in-my-back-again and things go downhill fast.

So have you guessed what I'm getting at here???

Not. Good.

Alright, so I FINALLY did my tempo run last night.

You how so very often you dread a run and you moan and groan about how much you don't want to run and then you finally get up the gumption to run and you're so glad you did because you feel so much better?! You know, the runner's high?

Yeah, well, I didn't experience that last night. In fact it was the very opposite... I felt worse after I ran.

Get outta my way!!

Anybody else ready for this week to be over because I totally AM!

Yesterday I kept thinking it was Tuesday but today I keep thinking its Friday. Oy! I need a vacation. Preferably somewhere warm and tropical.

So we got more snow Tuesday and yesterday. Yuck. I.Hate.Winter. Why, oh why, didn't we move to Savannah when we had the chance?!?! I'm still kicking myself for that one.

Thank goodness for my parents, though. Not only did they give us a place to shack up all weekend, due to the lack of power, but also my dad has let me borrow his B.A.T. (Big Ass Truck) with 4 wheel drive that will go just about anywhere. This thing is seriously a TANK! (If I think about it, I'll take a picture.) People just kinda move out of your way when you drive that thing. Its kinda nice. I feel so powerful and badass! haha

And then there was light...

So yeah. The snowstorm that swept across Ohio? (and most of the northeast for that matter) Left us with no power for most of the weekend. It sucked. I'm officially SICK of being cold.

There are still people in our area with no power and some may not have it restored until later this week. I feel bad for them.

We are fortunate, though, because my parents live right next door to us and my dad has this big ass generater that he hooked up to his house. So, while we weren't running on all cylinders, we at least had somewhere to go with heat and running water.

My dad has an older generator that he was planning on hooking up to our house but, while it would start and run, it wouldn't produce any power. We were starting to get worried that our pipes were going to freeze.

Fortunately, though, our power came on yesterday around 10:00 - almost exactely (haha oxymoron) 24 hours from when it went off. Talk about relief! I was jumping up and down cheering!

But by that point, the whole weekend was pretty much a waste...

I'm alive! I swear!

Yes, I'm here! I swear I'm here! I've had about a kazillion things going on and haven't had the time to blog. I've k...
